I report, write and record narrative audio features and appear on All Things Considered and Morning Edition.

New York Public Radio

I often joined our daily podcast to tell listeners about important and interesting stories. When I did, I’d make it a point to push beyond our traditional two-way format by contributing audio and other ideas. During my time at The Chronicle, I also developed a pilot season for a LGBT-themed podcast.

The San Francisco Chronicle

One summer, I wrote a story about the history connecting labor rights and LGBTQ rights. As I was reporting, the Fifth & Mission producers and I agreed we could turn the piece into a dynamic episode of our daily news podcast. I collected audio at the scene, collaborated on the script and helped coordinate additional audio interviews.

During the pandemic, I worked on a piece exploring how older adults were feeling about being asked to stay home. It was partly inspired by conversations I’d had with my own mother. When we decided to turn this into an episode for Fifth & Mission, I proposed interviewing her to add another dimension to our audio report.

When I heard, from the woman who cut my hair, that there was a rooster living in (and terrorizing) San Francisco’s Tenderloin, I knew it was a story. As it turns out, it made an even better podcast. I helped with scripting and narration and connected producers to my primary source for additional audio.
